A Community of Creators

Bread and Wine prioritizes supporting theatre artists so they can create stories that matter. Rather than viewing our mission narrowly as creating shows that originate in the mind of our artistic director, it is our goal to provide the space within where thespians can tell the beautiful stories they feel called to tell. Whether as an actor, a director, a playwright, or even a costume designer, Bread and Wine is the place to come to create innovative stories. We are always open to collaborating with other companies when such partnership can elevate and beautify a production or project. We strive to be a place for all artists, Christian or not, to tell stories about the beauty of the virtuous life, so long as they do not contradict biblical morality. Christian directors and playwrights, though, may especially find that our company's Christian worldview readily lends itself to providing them to develop stories that might not be given play elsewhere. So, if you want to create, it is our invitation to you to collaborate with a company that births plays from a community of creators.

Testimonies from the Creators Themselves

Travis Pfiefer, Actor - I got to work with Owen on the show The Time of My Life in January/February of 2025. Despite being the playwright and the producer, Owen was mostly hands off during the process. He let director Hannah Baartman take the reins and bring the show to life in a way she wanted. He was always pleasant to talk to at rehearsals and during the production. Working with Owen was a joy because he clearly had so much passion for the story being told which translated into his efforts on the production. He even reached out to me after the process was over to go over revisions, ideas, and updates to the script. Combine that with the payment for the show, and I knew Owen cared about and respected his actor's time. He made it a very enjoyable process and I look forward to working with him again.
